MLS
A new year and a new season of MLS soccer is underway. This time around, the league commences the year with heavy criticism because of the new playoff format of best of three they have instated. Similar to what they do in basketball rather than the home-and-way system that is used all over the world.
The new changes can increase the number of games played in the postseason from 16 to 33. Many have criticized the MLS for seeking more revenue and because of their need to produce more games due to their newly signed deal with Apple TV. But as the league grows, so does its professionalism and the need to be up to date with all the new tech and systems.
MLS kicks off today 💥 ICYMI: I had a great chat w/ @WayneRooney about his first full season as @dcunited manager.

The short answer is that every stadium in the league will have the use of the VAR system. For those who might not be familiar with what VAR stands for and what it is. This is the Video Assistant Referee. A three maned personal system that watches video in real-time and helps the ref on the field rectify wrong decisions.
VAR is employed in match-changing scenarios without the supporters knowing. The ref will be instructed to see the action on a monitor near the sideline when necessary.
PHI vs. CLB
The penalty kick not awarded to PHI was reviewed for a handball committed by CLB #5.
After further review, a penalty kick was awarded to PHI for a handling infraction by #5 of CLB (Miloš Degenek).
