Kinetic Performance Technology (GymAware) has been named as the 2023 ACT Exporter of the Year at the ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards ceremony this evening.
As the global leader of velocity-based training solutions, GymAware is a Canberra business success story. A staggering 89% of its sales are exports, with 80% of these to the USA, 10% to the United Kingdom and 6% to France and China. The company also won the Advanced Technologies award this evening.
The company’s products, GymAware RS and FLEX, are designed to help coaches and athletes of all levels measure and track strength training activities in the weight room. Its technology has been a crucial component of weight training for professional athletes across various sporting disciplines, helping hundreds of teams and individuals prepare for their career-defining moments on the field.
The company’s systems are used in weight rooms across 65% of all professional sporting teams in the USA, all teams in elite Australian leagues like the NRL and Super Rugby, as well as esteemed international teams, such as the New Zealand All Blacks.
I would like to congratulate Evan Lawton and his team at GymAware, who for over 20 years have been delivering world leading sport technology and are still at the top of their game.
In being named the 2023 ACT Exporter of the Year, GymAware has taken home a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, with this year’s trophy designed by local glass artist Annette Blair. It is the first time this prestigious trophy has been designed as a unique piece.
Tonight’s awards ceremony showcased several emerging and established exporting companies, and I would like to congratulate all winners for their commitment to business excellence in their respective fields.
Quotes attributable to Michael Burton, CEA Technology, judge at this year’s ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards:
“It was an honour to assist in judging this year’s Chief Minister’s Export Awards. The quality of the applicants was impressive. Not only do they each provide unique goods and services, but they all demonstrated a clear understanding that success in exporting means working to the highest possible standards.
It was inspiring to see so many businesses with a clear plan for identifying and pursuing valuable export markets – ultimately all Canberrans benefit when local businesses achieve export success.
It was clear that my fellow judges shared my passion for celebrating businesses that show the world what Canberra has to offer.”
