India has always been a nation undergoing changes in many different industries, and each sector has experienced growth ever since the transformation started. According to this, since an early age, the educational system has seen numerous changes. The environment has been changed into a learning space where every portion instructs us to better comprehend concepts and procedures. We have progressed from studying in open fields or under trees to large, well-equipped classrooms. The process is now a lot simpler than it was in the past, thanks to changes in the educational system, curricula, and learning style.
In an effort to create a new educational system for the country at a time when urgent technical action was needed to ensure students’ continued education, the NEP 2020 was launched. No one has turned around since that time. From schools implementing online learning to higher education programmes being delivered online, the education sector has improved substantially. India will soon overtake all other nations in terms of knowledge output, claims the NEP, which seeks to reach a 100% Gross Enrollment Ratio for students in pre-school through secondary education by 2030.
While we have made some strides in this direction, there is still much to be done. Although many schools have already switched to competency-based learning strategies, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced its aim to completely adopt the new model over the course of the following year. As more schools around the country adopt NEP, we want to bring accessibility, equity, quality, affordability, and accountability into the educational system. One of the changes to the university admissions procedure brought about by the Common University Entrance Exam (CUET) in 2022 was the education industry as a whole. The Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) also made plans to open an offshore campus in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Blended and hybrid learning, as we are all aware, are unquestionably here to stay. In terms of the first, incorporating digital elements into regular lessons will undoubtedly enhance and interest pupils. The future of education depends on strengthening and implementing student-centred learning. We anticipate that tech-savvy students will benefit greatly from various learning patterns in the coming year because their special talents will be maximised and intricately woven into their daily learning.
The ed-tech sector should focus its efforts on the New Education Policy in 2023 in order to assist students in developing crucial 21st-century skills like problem-solving, creative and critical thinking, digital literacy, experiential learning, and global competency that will help them become the significant decision-makers of tomorrow. A number of Ed-Tech companies may assist this effort since they have the resources to provide students with access to tech-based learning. Therefore, the government should also realise the necessity to update the entire educational system with the use of technology.
Another simple but incredibly effective and innovative way to handle the learning process is to tailor instruction to each student’s unique strengths, needs, talents, and interests. This helps in the development of a learning strategy tailored to the learner. Introducing customised learning is based on the basic tenet that each child learns differently and at a different rate. According to their learning preferences, prior knowledge, skills, and interests, each student in customised learning get a “learning plan.”
The curriculum’s disciplines must be taught to students with the intention of preparing them for real-world problem-solving and learning, not just for exam success. Early exposure to computer science education helps kids get over their tech phobia, enhances their capacity for critical thought and creative expression, and equips them with the skills necessary to use technology responsibly and with a beneficial social impact.
By helping teachers understand new trends in the job market, governments, academic institutions, and businesses can collaborate to better provide teachers with the knowledge, they need to educate students and support young talent from all socioeconomic backgrounds in creating a better future for themselves and all of us.
