Tubi's Super Bowl ad caused a stir: What to know about the service – USA TODAY

Did you reach for your remote during the Super Bowl, thinking you had accidentally clicked on some random menu on your TV? You were far from alone. 
Streaming service Tubi certainly got the attention of confused viewers wondering where their remote went when its 2023 Super Bowl ad aired Sunday. 
The 15-second commercial made it seem like the 2023 Super Bowl  broadcast had returned from a commercial break when, suddenly, the TV screen exited the game and opened the Tubi app.  
“No, you didn’t sit on the remote,” Tubi said in the video’s description on YouTube. “But on Super Bowl Sunday, we fooled audiences into thinking they did.”
Tubi is a popular streaming service and its content is free, which could offer some relief to consumers as many paid platforms bump prices

Tubi reported its highest quarterly viewership in the fiscal second quarter, which ended in December, with total viewing time up 41% year-over-year.
